I typically end each post with a quote that fits my post’s content and speaks to me. I love quotes. I love words.
This quote is good enough to have a post of its own.
“Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.”
- Daniel Patrick Moynihan
Opinions are a dime a dozen. Everyone has more than their fair share of them and I’m often entertained by the ones I overhear. But opinions are not fact. Fact can be proven beyond a doubt. Opinions are simply how someone sees something or wants something to be. There could be hundreds of opinions in any given situation or topic.
However, there can only be one set of facts. And no one is entitled to their own facts. No one.
Situations are what they are, no matter what you want them to be or how hard you try to re-organize the facts.
It is what it is.
Get over it. Deal with it. Move on.
You chose certain actions in your life and you have to live with the repercussions of those decisions, especially when they infringe on the rights or lives of other people.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But opinions have a low cost value in society.
No one is entitled to their own facts, no matter how much they may feel they are.
I’ll take the facts over any opinion any day.
