30 Day Photo Challenge – Day Eleven

Today’s photo challenge is blue. I was kind of hoping for another color, so I could work in our very-non-traditional wedding scheme, but we will have to wait on that. And no, it isn’t rainbow!

I took this on our daily morning trip to the park. There was quite a bit of blue, but I love this shot. It’s so her.

Of course, I could have waited a few hours and taken a photo of her buddy’s finger after she (she being my child) bit it. That turned a not-so-lovely shade of blue almost immediately.

I very calmy picked her up, sternly said, “We do NOT bite our friends.” and carried her upstairs. I deposited her into her buddy’s crib and shut the door on my way out.

Holy shit did she flip her lid!

I have never heard such animalistic sounds emerge from my daughter’s mouth. Of course, I have only put her in his crib once before.

The “Mommy! Mommy!” pleas about did me in, but I stood my ground. She even tried the, “Pee pee potty!! Pee pee potty!” strategy and I did. not. waiver. Worst case scenario, I would have an outfit to change and some sheets to wash.

When her wailing subsided, I walked into quite a sight.

The pillow, sheet and comforter were thrown on the floor. She had her socks, pants and underwear off. She had one leg up on the side of the crib and she just froze and put her head down when I walked in.

And yes, she was completely dry.

She put her arms up to me and clung on for dear life. I sat down with her in my lap and asked her why I put her in the crib.

“I bite G****.”

And the crying started all over again.

And I let her cry.

I held her.

I rubbed her back.

I let her work it out.

She stopped after a bit, took my hand and (after some prompting) apologized.

Now, one would think she was affected enough by the entire debacle to not bite again. At least, that’s what we are hoping. But she is a toddler and, well, they seem to make their own rules, so we shall see!
