Recipe: Braided Pasta

Published on October 16, 2012 by in Recipes

I have fallen back in love with Pinterest. I do daily art projects, learning activities, recipes, etc. with Bug and the little guy I nanny for. (Not to mention my Martha Stewart tendencies at home.) However,  I’ve been horrible at documenting my shit here.

I really need to post about the cinnamon bread stuff that Bubba said was, “way better than the stuff in the canister.”

Some of my projects and recipes are over on Find, Pin, Do; but I don’t believe anyone has posted there recently. I am notoriously awesome at starting projects and horrible keeping up with them.

This has become a frequent rotation in our dinner menu. It is very easily modified and beyond delicious.

You will need:
Noodles (any kind)

Spaghetti or Alfredo sauce

1 pound of ground meat or fajita-style chicken

A can of pizza dough (or crescent rolls)

Cheese slices (we like mozzarella/provolone) shredded works too

Garlic salt

Begin:

Set oven to 325 degrees.

Cook ground meat (we add garlic). Add sauce.

Cook pasta according to directions (my wife prefers angel hair). Rinse in cold water.

Spray cookie sheet and lay out pizza dough, spreading to edges. Evenly cut  six (or so) one inch slices from the edge toward the center on both sides. (And make them across from one another.)

Pile the pasta, sauce and cheese down the center.

Fold the tabs of dough created with your cuts and fold them over the center, crossing them. Fold up the ends so your pasta/sauce/cheese is all wrapped up.

Sprinkle with garlic salt.

Bake until dough is golden brown.

Cut into slices.

Enjoy!

Saturday night I made this using angel hair pasta, Alfredo sauce, broccoli, chicken strips and provolone cheese in pizza crust.

Sunday I used angel hair, spaghetti sauce, ground beef and provolone in crescent roll dough.

What can I say, we had the ingredients on hand and I wasn’t going out in the rain to shop.

Both were awesome! Play around with different doughs, pastas, sauces, meats and vegetables.

Dinner is served!
